Ingredients

  • Sugar· not in your bar2 cups white

    Or swap: Honey — floral sweetness, Simple Syrup — dissolves instantly

  • Coffee· not in your bar1/2 cup instant

    Or swap: Espresso — bolder — dilute with hot water

  • Vanilla Extract· not in your bar1/2

    Or swap: Vanilla Syrup — adds a little sweetness

  • Vodka· not in your bar1 1/2 cup

    Or swap: Gin — adds botanical notes, White Rum — a touch sweeter

  • Food Coloring· not in your bar
  • Water· not in your bar2 cups

Instructions

  1. Boil water and sugar until dissolved.

  2. Turn off heat.

  3. Slowly add dry instant coffee and continue stirring.

  4. Add a chopped vanilla bean to the vodka.

  5. Then combine the cooled sugar syrup and coffee solution with the vodka.

  6. Cover tightly and shake vigorously each day for 3 weeks.

  7. Strain and filter.

  8. Its also best to let the sugar mixture cool completely so the vodka won't evaporate when its added.

  9. If you like a smoother feel to the liqueur you can add about 1 teaspoon of glycerine to the finished product.
