- Green Crème de Menthe¼ oz
- Overproof Rum½ oz
- Galliano½ oz
Ingredient substitutions
No exact bottle on the shelf? These swaps keep Flaming Jamaican Shot close to the original.
Instead of Grenadine
- Raspberry Syrup— berry-forward, same blush
Instead of Green Crème de Menthe
- White Crème de Menthe— same mint, no green color
Instead of Overproof Rum
- Dark Rum— milder — the drink loses some kick
Instead of Galliano
- Yellow Chartreuse— more herbaceous
Instructions
In a 2 oz shot glass, pour grenadine as the bottom layer.
Slowly layer Galliano on top by pouring it over the back of a bar spoon.
Mix equal parts crème de menthe and Bacardi 151—this helps it float instead of sinking.
Carefully layer the mint-rum mix over the Galliano.
Top with a final layer of Bacardi 151, leaving a bit of space at the top.
Light the top layer to ignite the flame.
To drink: blow out the flame before sipping, or use a straw to drink quickly while it's still lit.
Caution: Bacardi 151 is highly flammable—use extreme care with open flames and never attempt while intoxicated.
Pairs well with
Flaming overproof rum over mint and banana burns showy — island sweets recover it:
- Banana fritters
- Coconut drops
- Rum-glazed pineapple bites
- Mint chocolate thins
